Episode #45: Lisa Stoneham

Hello and welcome back to the Dominic Brancazio Podcast where we talk about all things classical music! In today’s episode, we’re joined by my friend Lisa Stoneham. Lisa is the bass trombonist of the Bozeman Symphony, currently playing a one year position as the bass trombonist with the Hawaii Symphony, and is currently based in Portland, Oregon. In today’s episode we go through Lisa’s background and how she carved a wonderful career for herself playing music. We specifically go over her background in music, our time crossing paths at New World Symphony, we talk about how she puts recitals together, her journey finding work after New World Symphony, we hear about her experience winning the Bozeman Symphony bass trombone audition, and we also talk about representation in orchestras.

If you would like to learn more about Lisa, please check out the links in the description below. This was so much fun getting the opportunity to talk to Lisa again. She was always an inspiration to hear in the orchestra and it was really nice to hear about all of her success after we crossed paths in New World Symphony. It can be difficult sometimes to find our way after being in a learning institution and trying to start your career, and I hope hearing Lisa’s story provides a wonderful example of how it can be done really well. Thank you for tuning in and I hope you all please enjoy the episode!
