Episode #40: Alex Fioto

Hello and welcome back to the Dominic Brancazio Podcast where we talk about all things classical music. Today we’re joined by my friend Alex Fioto. Alex is a Data Scientist at Ubisoft and is also an amazing freelance trumpet player living in Raleigh, North Carolina.

In this episode we go over how one can successfully go into a new career field while still performing as a musician. We go over how Alex got into data science, performing music while working a full time job, we go into how to deal with the challenge of wrapping your self-worth into your identity as a musician, and we also share someways people can apply their skills in music to other fields.

If you would like to follow Alex on social media or learn how you can support this podcast, please check out the links in the description below. I’m very happy I got the chance to sit down with Alex in this episode and go over this particular topic. I think the subject of adding a second job in addition to a music career should be discussed more often especially for people starting out. It can be really challenging, but being honest with the conversation and going over the success stories of those who have been able to do it I think will make it easier for others going through this process as well. I really got a lot out of this episode and I hope you all find it valuable too. Thank you for listening and please enjoy the show.
